Fast-track the way the Mediterranean’s digital revolution 

It’s time to end the debate on digitization’s role in industry. Digital technology is now everywhere, enhancing the customer experience from showroom to office. Digital transformation offers a unique chance to address social and economic challenges in Mediterranean economies, with many countries rapidly embracing this path. This surge in the digital economy is reshaping regional and global landscapes, improving productivity, inclusion, governance, and transparency.  

However, a significant digital divide remains despite impressive growth rates in telecommunications. Digitally transformed enterprises are now driving value addition across economies, with projections indicating their increasing contribution to global GDP by 2023. The ascent of the digital economy in the Mediterranean, coupled with government initiatives, presents substantial opportunities for private-sector enterprises. To thrive, organizations must embrace digital transformation. The region is well-positioned to pursue its digital ambitions, fostering tech sector maturity and accelerating its digital revolution. 

Principle Session 

Policymakers, international and regional businesses, start-ups, and investors will convene to address policies, challenges, and initiatives aimed at enhancing digital economies in the region. Panelists will share insights and recommendations for fostering a new digital Mediterranean, focusing on digital infrastructure, platforms, skills, payments, and entrepreneurship. 

Discussions will center on critical factors for achieving the Mediterranean’s digital economy development goals, as well as the potential role of global technology companies in supporting government initiatives. Additionally, there will be exploration of the need and opportunities for digital investments in the Mediterranean region to further economic development. Furthermore, the session will delve into strategies for positioning the region as an attractive destination for foreign global technology companies, offering technology support and development services to both regional and global markets.  

Digital Entrepreneurship in the Mediterranean: A Panel Discussion 

Featuring regional ecosystem players and entrepreneurs, this session will spotlight trends in entrepreneurship development. Participants will share insights, tackle challenges, and explore growth opportunities within their respective countries. The discussion will culminate in key recommendations aimed at scaling digital entrepreneurship across the region.
